About Me

Tromac Photography is owned by Troy Mackaway so it is easy to see where the name Tromac originated. I discovered my passion for photography in 2002 when working in the information technology field. The company I worked for was a distributor for Canon digital cameras and I fell in love with the Canon G3 prosumer camera. In 2006 I was working as a police officer in the New South Wales Police Force and established Tromac Photography as a second job. This gave me the chance to persue my passion for photography. I shot a few weddings for friends and family and since that time word has travelled and referals have bloomed. While I'm no longer with the police (see my website hurtonduty.com.au for the story), I am still following my love of photography and the memories it creates.

Having come from an IT background I am a self confessed geek and love fiddling with anything technical. I love photoshop and a few other similar products which are all used to enhance your photos, adding that special touch where suited. I now shoot with two professional Canon cameras, the Canon EOS-5D full frame digital SLR, a Canon EOS-5D Mark II and numerous L series lenses, ensuring that your photographs are sharp and clear.

Loving what I do I have a relaxed, honest and friendly nature. I enjoy spending time with my clients whether that be for a wedding, portrait shoot, sporting event or any other opportunity.

At present I work from home and no longer have sample prints to showcase my skills. I'll look at rebuilding the samples again in the not too distant future, but for now I rely on word of mouth from the wonderful people I have had the priviledge to meet and from the photographs I have on this website. I could wish for nothing more than to one day open my own studio and that is something I yearn for. Just recently through negotiation I will be utilising the two storey flat on our block for studio bookings. This will allow me to shoot indoor portraits, from high key, low key and an assortment of other backgrounds using digital green screen techniques.

Although I live in the Newcastle/Maitland area of the Hunter Region I am willing to travel anywhere, of course my expenses would need to be covered for long distances.
